Sector Chief - Healthcare and Public Health Sector

Roger Lutz, MBA, CHCIO, CDH-E, HCISPP

Roger serves as the Chief Information Officer for Independence Health System, the third largest health system in Western Pennsylvania.  Independence Health System has 7,300 employees and more than 1,000 physicians and advanced practice providers, serving a population of 750,000.  Roger has 15 years in healthcare I.T. leadership and nearly 30 years experience in information technology, data communications and information security. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Science from Robert Morris University and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Roger’s passion is cybersecurity and he serves as Sector Chief for the Healthcare and Public Health sector of the FBI’s Pittsburgh InfraGard partnership. Roger holds both CHCIO and HCISPP certifications and in his spare time teaches the Healthcare Ethics, Law, Privacy and Information Assurance course as part of an M.Sc. Healthcare Informatics program at Slippery Rock University.
