Date
December 8, 2023 - December 22, 2023

The InfraGard Pittsburgh Members Alliance (IPMA) is holding an election of members of the Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for operating the IPMA and collaborating with the FBI InfraGard Program Coordinators. IPMA bylaws call for annual elections and allow for up to 9 board members. Two nominations were received for election to one of the two (2) three-year term positions and a motion to accept the two nominated members is made at the December 2023 Chapter Meeting. Members are term limited to six years of elected service to the board per a requirement of InfraGard National Members Alliance. Nominees must be a member of InfraGard Pittsburgh. Nominees were asked to respond to a questionnaire regarding their interest in serving on the Board of Directors and for a copy of their professional resume. The questionnaire responses (not the resume) is posted on the InfraGard Pittsburgh website for review prior to voting.

Here are the 2024 nominees:

Nominee #1: Dr Tim Wilson, Point Park University

1. Why are you interested in serving with the IPMA Board of Directors?  I am interested in the position to further my work in maturing the Sector Chief program in the IPMA.

I feel we have a great start and want to keep the momentum going.

2. Do you have any previous board service, leadership, or volunteer experience?  Are you presently serving on any boards?  If so, which boards do you serve on and in what positions?

I serve on the PAC of the NCFTA and the Governing Board of CCUE

3. What skills and/or expertise can you offer?  How will the organization benefit from your participation?  How do you think we could best take advantage of your expertise?

I have over 25 years in the IT industry and in education.  In my capacities over time I have been very involved in the community of Pittsburgh and have made many great connections while serving as the CIO of Point Park University.

4. What kind of time commitment will you be able to make?  Are you able to serve on committees and attend quarterly events?  Can we expect you to regularly attend monthly Board of Directors meetings?

Yes, I will be able to serve on committees and attend meetings along with planning events.

Nominee #2: Matt Collins, BNY Mellon

1. Why are you interested in serving with the IPMA Board of Directors?

I would like to be more involved in the IPMA and the broader security community in Pittsburgh. Board service will provide me with a structured way to engage with IPMA.

2. Do you have any previous board service, leadership, or volunteer experience?  Are you presently serving on any boards?  If so, which boards do you serve on and in what positions?

I currently serve on the board of the Western Pennsylvania Diaper Bank (WPADB) and hold the role of treasurer. The WPADB provides millions of diapers each year to babies in need throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania.

When I worked at CERT, I was the coordinator of an organization dedicated to sharing knowledge about insider threat programs. I grew participation from 40 individuals to more than 200 by the time I left the role and transitioned my responsibilities.

3. What skills and/or expertise can you offer?  How will the organization benefit from your participation?  How do you think we could best take advantage of your expertise?

My experience in different roles – research, consulting, security program building, and risk management –  has given me a broad view of how security is implemented across the energy, financial, and defense sectors. That experience helps me to identify topics that are interesting to a wider audience within Infragard.

I lived in Houston Texas from 2015 – 2018 and was a member of InfraGard there. This was a very active chapter with strong member participation that gives me a reference for how infragard was run in another city.

4. What kind of time commitment will you be able to make?  Are you able to serve on committees and attend quarterly events?  Can we expect you to regularly attend monthly Board of Directors meetings?

I will make time for the responsibilities of this role and can attend regular Board of Directors meetings. My organization provides me with time for volunteer activities.

The board is self-organizing and will determine the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer when the new board takes office in January 2024. The following are general responsibilities board members will provide.
